(( There would be an IC announcement from Lisa saying that she has a presentation to give to the ship's residents and crew. This presentation is set for Sunday, early afternoon, as seen from Pacific time (maybe 2:00 ish). It will get started as soon as we can get everyone together who can be there. ))

There will be an urgent meeting regarding some critical new information and decisions to be made. This meeting is for all ship residents and crew, in the forward lounge.

Information as presented during our meeting:

Upon arriving in the Proxima system, we connected with the local communications relay as there is no colony in this system. It was learned that there are two other ships in the system with their transponders deactivated. As this is abnormal, ours was also deactivated and a decision was made not to communicate using the relay.

At this point in time, it was discovered that our quantum communications node had been destroyed. Our engineer suspects it was intentionally sabotaged. It is unknown whether the sabotage occurred before or after we boarded the ship, as it could have been programmed to self-destruct at a given time or location.

At Saturn, our engineer had discovered an imbalance in the engines. This had been dismissed as a simple inefficiency, but given the possibility of sabotage of the communication equipment, this imbalance must be looked into before we can risk using the engines.

Only recently, two more ships were detected entering the system, both with their transponders deactivated.

Conclusions:
The ship is stuck in the Proxima system until we can determine the engines are safe to use. Furthermore, without communications, should our engines fail in interstellar space, we will not be able to release a distress signal without a quantum comms device. The ships in this system are of unknown configuration and unknown intent, but it is likely not anything good.

A very bright flash was seen at the planet Proxima Centauri b. Our radiation sensors picked up a brief spike in X-Ray radiation at the same time. We are currently in a high orbit around this planet in preparation of deploying the mining survey probe. At the same time the flash was seen, one of the ships stopped communicating with the communications relay.

Our current leading theory is that one of the unknown ships was in a low orbit and suffered from a reactor explosion. Another possibility is the detonation of a nuclear device on the planet's surface, but this does not explain the loss of communication between the ship and the communications relay. The X-Ray burst does indicate a nuclear explosion of some type.

We will be deploying the probe tomorrow. Our ship will change course to an eccentric orbit bringing us in close to the surface of the planet. At that time, the probe will be deployed. We will also launch our shuttle to investigate the source of this flash while the probe is being deployed. The identity of these ships and their intent must be determined before we leave this system. Failure means we could be walking into a trap at our next destination.

We are preparing to set sail from Vita Isabella, and we have options for our next destination. Some of these options I feel need some feedback from the crew and residents. Please join me in the lounge tomorrow [Friday, 2pm Pacific time] for a discussion of these options before a final decision is made.

I hereby request a written account of the events at Beta Corvi 12 outpost from each member of the landing party. Crew members are required to submit their accounts immediately. Residents are not required to submit an account but are encouraged to do so.

I will be addressing the crew tomorrow [[Sunday]] with my findings.

A notice is given to all crew and residents:

"All crew are now required to return to the Corvus for duty and remain on the ship in preparation for departure.

Residents are requested to complete any transfers to the ship as soon as possible, and board the ship.

Corvus will be departing as soon as our final engine repair inspection is complete. I expect this to be in two days.

All crew and residents should be aware that officers and crew from the Iowa are going to be visiting the Corvus, at ((insert IC date and time here)). If anyone prefers to not be on the ship during this time, Corvus will provide reimbursement for accommodations on the surface. The Iowa understands our hesitance to meet with them, and understands why not everyone may want to be present, given our last interaction with a UE vessel. It is our hope, our intention, and our belief that this visit will not only be a step forward, but the final step, to restoring Corvus's good standing with the UE.

Corvus crew and residents are warned that Iowa repair crews are going to be aboard and outside of the ship for the near future. All weapons are to be stored in the weapons locker during their visit. No exceptions.
